Don’t press the starting gun...if you do...you’re in for a big fight!
The Save Sanders Lane (SSL) campaign was formed on 24th May 2008, when the potential inclusion of the re-development of Sanders Lane was highlighted by the Bittacy & Sanders Residents Association (BASRA) to some neighbouring residents in the Lidbury Estate, following the publication of the Mill Hill East Area Action Plan (AAP) - Submission Draft - May 2008.
The vast majority of the length of Sanders Lane has been pedestrianized for many years. Our aim is to remove any reference of redeveloping Sanders Lane into a two lane highway from this AAP.
We hope to do this by making as many people as possible aware of the potential re-development of Sanders Lane, and to encourage people to object to this AAP by following the London Borough of Barnet’s correct procedure of submission of the Representation Forms by 5:00pm 23rd June 2008. If you do not have the time to make your own Representation, which we encourage you to do, simply adding your name to the SSL campaign will achieve this. This can be done by either signing one of our petition sheets or alternatively visiting our Web Site www.sanders-lane.co.uk(available from 10th June) and e-mailing your objections to infosanders@yahoo.co.uk (This should take less than two minutes to do).
The council could potentially receive hundreds, if not more, Representations. However, if not one of these objections (known formally as Representations) proves the ‘unsoundness of the AAP’ then, their value will be meaningless. We hope that by referring you to our website, we will, before 23rd June 2008, prove how the AAP is technically unsound with regards to the redevelopment of Sanders Lane. We hope to achieve this by YOUR input.
We feel that the matter of Sanders Lane has been treated in an underhand manner by the London Borough of Barnet and could unnecessarily cost tax payers millions of pounds, when existing routes are already in place.
The issues contained within the AAP affect everybody, not just the residents in Mill Hill. Please help us in the mission.
